A Crested Pigeon taken at Oxley Creek Common. This bird is found widely throughout mainland Australia except for the far northern tropical areas.

Only two Australian pigeon species possess an erect crest, the Crested Pigeon and the Spinifex Pigeon. The Crested Pigeon is the larger of the two species. They make a whistling sound with their wings when they take off.

Hi Ken...Thanks for the comment, and yes these are from the southeastern area of Arizona. I sure wish their territory extended up to where I live.
