Wow Steve...what a beautiful eagle head. I've never seen one join up with a pack of Canadas before. I'm guessing, there's no snow geese around for this guy to join up with. It's really neat to see occurrences such as this, because they are a bit of a rarity.

Thanks, Mike!

With "eagle head," you had me going to Google! Now I know. I think you're right...Snows usually stay along the Maryland coastal areas rather than inland where I'm at. And lots of birders have been stopping at the lake it's visited to get a look at the rarity.

Your shot makes this eagle look very regal! Very nice capture, Ted!

Very nicely captured, Paul. Is it possible that these different colored/textured feathers could be the sign of a juvenile bird?

Love this shot,Rob! I think his eyes might be bigger than his stomach.

Everything about this shot is perfect, Sid! You show this hawk off so beautifully! The lighting is fantastic.

Both of these shots are so nice Kirk! The osprey image has a very artistic appeal. Very nice work!

Thanks for your kind reply Mike.

A non-breeding Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis) (external link) by Paolo Dolina (external link), on Flickr

Small, compact white heron with relatively short yellow bill. More frequently seen in dry habitats than other egrets; rarely gets its feet wet. In breeding season, look for pale salmon color on head and breast (more extensive in Asia and Australasia) and brighter bill. Leg color varies from reddish or yellow during the breeding season to black during the nonbreeding season. Juveniles have dark bill. Always note relatively short, thick neck and short legs compared with other egrets. Widespread and fairly common across the globe. Often gathers in flocks, frequently following cattle or tractors in fields.

Thanks Mike! There was another Blue Jay chasing this one, but he/she was determined to keep it.

He is a very intelligent bird.

1. You totally can not see him when he hides behind tree branches.

2. Or, can only he see you if he wants to.

You're absolutely right RAL. I cannot see him in either one of your two photos:-P

Both shots are great, Cog. To me, the IQ seems seems pretty darn good with or without the the 1.4 TC.

What an incredible lifelike shot of the male Superb Fairy Wren, Richard! You really executed this shot beautifully!
