Nice shots of the sparrows.

Thanks. If the Swamp Sparrow hangs around I'll probably try for a better shot.

Went chasing a Swamp Sparrow yesterday. They're very uncommon visitors around here and like to stay down in the vegetation. Staked this one out for over an hour and got a 20 second look. However, the Song Sparrows were popping up and posing all around us.

Glad to see your patience paid off, Ken. They are secretive much of the time. Do you think it's an immature? Some birders seem to go to that designation when birds appear to have taken a wrong turn.

Fourteen ducklings is a might big brood. I hope they all make it.

Outstanding capture, beautifully composed, Paul! This shot is such an eye grabber.

Extraordinary capture, Vassilis!!

Stupendous shot, of this beautiful little Golden-crowned Kinglet, Steve! It is so nicely composed.

Great close-up of the Canada goose, fotoi! Very nice color and the image is tack sharp.

Terrific catch, Phil! I've only seen them a couple of times in my life...never with a camera handy.

This is really a beautiful capture, 4huskers! Great work!

Superb close-up capture of the Savanna Vulture, Judy! They have quite a bit of color in their face and head...whereas our Turkey Vulture only had red.

Thank you, Mike.

I don't know about the age Steve. I don't think there's a lot of difference between immatures and non breeding adults by this time of year. It is true that many vagrants are immatures., but I think in general birds wander more in fall migration and there are also more immatures in the fall.

Swamp Sparrows winter along the California coast, with some in the Sacramento valley. There seem to be one or two around northern Nevada most years, and there was one at this same location in 2020. All I got of that one were some marginal ID shots from maybe 40 yards away.
