More. This is it as the other two don't inspire me either.

Very interesting, Rob. So, is Neo aimimg to overtake PS and Topaz?

Looks like it. Other Neo extensions target Topaz Gigapixel and Denoise, too. Neo is getting better, esp. with the additions - finally - of clone and a few other previously missing elements. Still exploring. The fact that you can choose to buy the Luminar products outright (vs. "rental") continues to appeal to me vs LR.

I recently compared what Aurora HDR does (the basic AI treatment when I open a single image) to the results from the single image Neo HDR extension and the results are identical, so it looks as if they may have incorporated the Aurora module (or that part of it, at least) directly into the Neo extension. Advantage of Neo HDR is that it will take .cr3 files, which Aurora has never done.

Convenient to have all these things (including Topaz-like capabilities) in one program.

... and, from the good old days, Canon F-1n, FTb, Mamiya 645 (m1000s), etc. -- Rob

Here's three of them. I'm still working on the bird.

PL6 to LP for finishing.

IMHO, the bottom image is a marked improvement on the original. The 'golden hour' enhancement matches the shadow angles wonderfully, and truly appears very realistic to my eyes. Also, the crop improves the composition considerably. The winner :)

Before and After - The Weekly Editing Challenge
...now compiled into a single, easy to locate thread, that can be added to your subscribe/follow list!

Rules are simple:

  • Download the image file from the current week

  • Contestants will have 7 days to edit the image and post their edited version to the thread (as many entries as you like)

  • The owner of the original image will choose a winner

  • The winner will copy & paste this post and include a new downloadable image link

  • The new image must be unedited / SOOC (straight our of camera), full-resolution, and in a RAW format, ie. CR2, DNG, TIF, etc

  • (Dropbox works well for uploading and linking these large files)

The purpose of this game is to be creative and learn new editing techniques. You must give some insight into exactly how you went about editing the image. For example, increased shadows sliders, reduced highlights, local sharpening, white balance adjustment, specific filters used, tone curve adjustments, etc. Comments and/or questions regarding the edits are encouraged.

HERE'S (external link) the link to the new challenge.

SOOC: This first one is a real challenge for you. I tried and could make nothing out of this awful picture.

For kicks, tried this exclusively in Aurora. Several sliders and a bit of a crop + some dodging and burning. Really brings out the sky which looks absent in the original.

Mmmm, interesting. I cannot get near that result with standalone Aurora 1.0.02550.1 2019. This is what emerges using the Bright Landscape preset

IMAGE: https://i.postimg.cc/SK1FJ0qT/Bright-Landscapee.jpg

So I had to turn to Luminar AI to rplace that uninteresting blank sky
IMAGE: https://i.postimg.cc/hj0m90y5/Bright-Landscapeedding-Dx-O-tweaked.jpg

Basically, the original is a very uninteresting shot and one is forced to use digital trickery to produce something passable. If it had been my shot I would have dumped it This is what my default workflow generated (PL6 > SNS-HDR > PS/ACR) which usually produces an image which folk cannot tell whether HDR has been used or not!

Me too! But the challenge is to make something out of it, serious or funny, it doesn't matter.;-)a
