Nov 01, 2022 14:38 | #664 Question Mark butterfly and a Gulf Fritillary. The white spots on a Gulf Fritillary's outer wings are actually silver. How does one capture the silver in a photo without it just looking white??? Image hosted by forum (1183727) © Terry McDaniel [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Dec 05, 2022 22:36 | #673 I caught these two in an upward spiralling mating dance, out in the back garden. Some of the Sony lenses I use have a focus restriction which is something like 2.7m to 7m, which allows me to position myself in front of a distant background and as long as the butterflies are within that range they should (theoretically) be in focus. In practice, it's not quite that easy but I do try to make sure the background is several stops underexposed and the butterfly is the brightest element in the scene. This helps the autofocus to lock on a little easier. Image hosted by forum (1188120) © stevejack [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff.
