Both of these duck shots are very nicely captured, Steve! We've had a major influx of Ruddy Ducks (and others) in my area. The San Joaquin Valley (where I live) holds many thousands of both ducks and geese.

Thanks, Mike! That sounds great. While we've had some migrants, we haven't had a major influx yet. Then again, we had pretty warm weather until a few days ago.

What a great shot, Vassilis! Definitely an intense stare!

Thank you for that kindly compliment Mike.

Those long, dark, bitter cold, northern wintry days can sure drive a person buggy.
I set-up a remote flash on a tripod and positioned it in front of our old Apple tree.
I shot from about 17 feet (5 meters) away with a remote flash trigger.
This set-up allowed me to increase the shutter speed to 3200 (high speed Sync).
The critters didn't mind at all and perched there while visiting our nearby feeders.
Happy trails.

Blue Jay

Thanks, Mike. There are several subspecies of Dark-eyed Junko, about six in my area, and I'm happy to have photographed them all except one.

I had no idea that there were so many subspecies of Dark-eyed Junkos, SYS. Thank you for sharing that information.

Hi Manny...

This is a really beautiful photograph. Great color, pose, background, sharpness, and technical skill. Can't ask for more than that. It's also nice to see a little "commoner" from the bird kingdom looking so regal.
