Why put a golf course on such a windy spot in the first place?
Haha! Good question - this area was part of a 155 acre Golf Course Country Club from 1922 - 2012. Ten years ago the Conservation Fund donated it to the Cleveland Metroparks instead of allowing it to become another shopping center.
It's now been overgrown for a decade. My wife and I are parks volunteers, and three times/year we do a photo survey of 38 GPS locations, to show how everything is transitioning from a manicured golf course back to a more natural state. On a good day we can do the survey in 5 - 6 hours. As time goes on though it's getting more difficult to find those numbered stakes.
