thx mike. is that what it is? i'm more of a photographer than a birder but all our kestrels look like this.

Kev...that aluminum band on it's right leg is used as a means of tracking the movements and migrations of birds. We see them mostly on waterfowl. But it is quite rare to find these banded birds. When you say, "all our kestrels look like this," do you mean that they are all banded with aluminum bands such as the one in your photo? I'm really curious.

This is a really cool looking shot, Joe, but I believe these guys are snowy egrets. I'm saying this because of the yellow feet and yellow colored feathers directly in front of their eyes.

This shot has a lot of mood, atxannie! The dark thunder clouds with the black silhouettes have an ominous look. I really like this image!

Lol. Should have been clearer - it was a landing spot. Felt bad for one of the redtails, he was flying away from mobbing crows, landed in a tree only to find it already occupied, and end up in a tussle anyway!

Thanks for your comment on the redtail fight. It was one of those "no time to think, just shoot and see what you get later" moments, so was pleased it worked out!

Thank you for that kindly compliment Mike, much appreciated.
That Hawk unsuccessfully tried to snag a juvenile Moorhen moments earlier.
