In my opinion you cannot go wrong with Fujifilm mirror less cameras. I was in a similar situation to you, just starting out and I went with the Fuji ecosystem of lenses and bodies. The results have been fantastic. Great prices for used gear and almost flawless performance. This is my unsolicited opinion
My experience was quite different. The lst trip to Botswana, two of us, myself included, brought along Fuji kits. In my case, XT1 it was as a small second body for closer work, the telephoto was on my 5D4. Dave had a Fuji as well. I
Both of us gave up on them after about 2 days. The battery capacity was seriously limiting, EVF not up to par, and AF could not keep up with our DSLRs. I am sure that Fuji has come along since the XT1, but I'd not consider it ideal.
