Got this one on the Fallon, NV Christmas Bird Count. It's unusual to find them this far north. Very scruffy looking first-year male.

Masked Lapwing also known as Spur-winged Plover in the paddock behind out house. :-)

These birds must have nerves made from heavy duty wire, as they are constantly being disturbed by dogs off leash

yet they return...?
