Always love the over the shoulder pose, Archibald
(I never can get blue jays to sit still in our woods)
Great color and detail in this beautiful setting.

Thanks, appreciated.

As for the thread, anything that keeps this popular topic moving forward works for me!

Same here, but we want consensus so we don't split the group. We are a community.

A modest proposal . . . Maybe we should go to annual threads along the lines of the "Post your 20xx Landscapes" threads.

Agree. But listen to Ray:

My input - for what it is worth, Archie - I would rather see Post your Bird Portraits (3) than an annually renewable thread - because when threads become dated new 'Posters' will be left wondering where to place their old pictures - I have found this a bit perplexing on other dated sites. Maybe simply Bird Portraits (3)

Yes, this.

Very nice, I like that you opened it up a bit and showed a little more of the beautiful surroundings, but yet, kept everything nice and sharp. Well done!

A modest proposal - with 2023 fast approaching, should we start a new bird portrait thread called Post your 2023 Bird Portraits?

The current thread is only one and a half years old and already has 1425 pages with 21,367 replies. That is enough to slow posting response significantly. Maybe we should go to annual threads along the lines of the "Post your 20xx Landscapes" threads.

Just wondering what everybody thinks about that.

Here is a Blue Jay looking over its shoulder.

I'm all for it, do you need to contact admin directly so that they will see your suggestion?

Nice image, very pretty but are they superimposed? They appear very 3d like and with the eagle on the right I'm seeing something unnatural under its tailfeathers.

No, I'm one of those who do a "Post your 202x landscape" although one of the people just west of the dateline generally get it started because Jan 1 is earlier for them.
Just start the thread after the new year starts where you live, if someone hasn't done so already.

I see, just get it started and hopefully everyone will go along with it.

+1 for Ray's idea. Sounds like a very good solution.

Best not to do it for now. We want to be together on this lest we split the group.

Did a Christmas Bird Count in Carson City, NV and got a couple of nice raptors. Sharp-shinned Hawk (90% sure) and Merlin.

Two nice captures! I think Cooper's Hawk on the first one.

Ken this is so nice. Beautiful little bird
Shows its colours and details very nicely

Thanks Richard. One of my better Kinglet shots, but I'm still trying to get one with his crest on full display. They only flash it briefly, and it's often concealed completely.

Beautiful Jay photo Ed. They're very attractive birds.
Agree on your comments re new thread. But Ray.Petri idea sounds way to go. Doesn't time regulate it.

Very nicely composed Chrisa. Love the colours and setting

Another beautiful photo of yours Charles
Interesting bird

Gorgeous little beauty Paul.

Thank you kindly Richard. Happy holiday.
