Gambel's Quail...

Red-tailed hawk

1. A great horned owl that I've been trying to capture at Robinson Preserve in Bradenton, FL. for weeks now, and I finally found him/her/he/she/it/that​. Taken from about 30 m away and h.h. so it's not as sharp as it could've been.
2. A great blue heron walking along the tidal pool just after sunrise on north beach at Ft. De Soto, St. Pete, FL.

If I hadn't remembered the exact tree and exact hole this red morph Screech Owl occupied 2 years ago there's NO WAY I'd have seen it.

The Pomeranian goose is a heavy goose from Northern Germany as early as 1550. This domestic species weighs between 14 and 20 lbs (6.4 and 9.1 kg).

This species was bred with commercial production in mind. Its breast is larger than most and can lay around 100 eggs per season.

In addition to being prized for their production, this goose species is extra chatty. It makes them an effective alarm system for any unwanted visitors.

For many years, this goose was the most popular in markets. This was the case in countries like Germany, the Czech Republic, and Austria.

Richard, Northern Harries are not one of the more powerful hawks. They generally eat small rodents and occasionally catch small birds. They definitely would be scavenging this Canada Goose.

Thank you Dennis. This was my first visit to the Sandy Camp Road Wetlands. I can see that I am going to have to pay more regular visits.
