Hi Richard, I'm curious about these cool little birds. What are they like to photograph? Are they "high strung" like our North American Kinglets?

Jose they aren't skittish in any way. Often they will sit still in one place for 5 minutes and can be approached to 3 meters or less.
Occasionally one will fly up to where I am, see me and divert elsewhere.
Mostly though they can be approached quite readily.
There's the exceptions though to all above and they're off.
That's the story of the "house or yard crew". They've grown-up in our presence.
Further away they are definitely more flighty.
They are inquisitive birds but not like our Grey Fantail, Cranky fan

Two excellent shots of the Laughing Dove, Cog! Both images are very sharp.

Many thanks Mike. It's easy to appreciate why the were called 'Superb' when one sees them flitting about in all their colours

Here's a nearly mature juvenile (Superb Fairy Wren) from this afternoon.
She was on her own for some reason
(bit more of our lichen :-) )

Your shots are always so sharp and lifelike, Richard! I love the colors of these lichens. This setting offers such an attractive rustic appeal.

Very nice close-up of this cute looking budgie, Gerd!

Kirk...I really like the shot of the sanderling. The lighting is excellent. an it appears as though you are right down there with it.

Great shot! I'm assuming you have an optimal hide/spot to capture them as they pass closely by. I need to find one.

What a terrific hen mallard portrait shot, fotoi! She looks so alive.

Thanks Mike & Sogs for your kind comments. Very much appreciated.
Mike I like to get a thoroughly natural setting, but often (many) are compromised, but then even the lichens help to soften that.
I expect to them it's all their natural world they live in :-)

I didn't realize Eastern Bluebirds were adept at clinging to tree trunks.
