It can be real hard to get the right angle on these feeding shots, and it all happens so fast, but you really nailed it here. Very nice. Mike you are so very kind and encouraging with your comments. This forum has helped me immensely in a passive way for me through comments shared on photos and 'methods' along with seeing the results when we persevere even against the odds and post the photos we see and enjoy here. A big thankyou for these encouraging words. ![]() And I'm glad you and others enjoy the wrens I myself enjoy so much Thanks very much Sony A7mkiii / Zeiss Batis 18mm f2.8 / Zeiss FE35 f2.8 / EF24-105F4L / EF70-200f4L / EF50mm f1.8 / Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro

Initially, we were trying to photograph the swallows in flight and then realised they were feeding in the branches. As the parents came back to feed, the birds in the branches would start screeching and flapping their wings. Once we worked out what to look for, it made it a whole lot easier to be ready to shoot them as they flew in to pass on the food. Very nice captures! If YOU like the photo, that's all that matters!

We were there many years ago. I have photographed scrub jays but it was on Merritt Island. They were pretty tame but in motion all the time. Taking notes about this spot in Martin County! Yes. Let me know if you are going I will meet you and show you how to find them........ Ed

Understanding things like family structure, breeding behavior and individual movement are all important in developing protection plans. Because of the small population most studies are designed to monitor the activity individual birds. These are very interesting birds. They are the only species that lives entirely within the state of Florida, and they are completely isolated from any other Scrub-Jay species (Central Texas is the closest). They spend their lives near their birthplace, and family members frequently help nesting pairs raise young. The controlled burns are necessary to maintain suitable habitat. Fire is a natural part of the ecology of this plant community, and without it these area would become overgrown and the oaks would be replaced by other species. So I'm always happy to see Florida Scrub-Jay pics. THanks and yes those are the interesting back story facts about these great birds. Ed
