I'm told they did a flyover of the Eagles game, just not sure why they were doing a circuit that definitely was not going over the stadium. And not near enough to any military airports to explain it either.

Jeff USN Photog 72-76 I can't believe I miss-typed ![]() More info | Jan 09, 2023 18:07 | #2859 I have had the 90D since it was released but got a R7 when it came out and love it, I had thought of trading the 90D on another R7, mainly so the controls are the same but the 90D is such a nice camera and HAS a battery grip so I am going to keep it and use it when I need power longer and also with my R7, each with a different lens. Naturalist Adrift on a lonely vast sea More info | Jan 09, 2023 19:16 | #2860 Capn Jack wrote in post #19462668 ![]() They could have been holding until it was time for their pass over the stadium. Note that Eagles stadium is very nearly on the flight path to Philadelphia Airport (KPHL). Air traffic control (ATC) doesn't want them in the way of the two east-west runways. The stadium is oriented North-South, but is still close enough to runway 17-35 that ATC would like them elsewhere until it is time for their flyover. I'd like to know how the stadium, Air Force, and ATC coordinate the flyover, although Philly isn't a super busy airport. Their controllers are super nice. McGuire AFB isn't very far, nor is Dover AFB. Practicing holds (the circuit) is part of maintaining currency for a pilot, so it's possible they were practicing- the flyover doesn't cost the taxpayer any more, in this case. The Yardley VOR and the GRIBL GPS waypoint are both close to there, convenient points for a holding pattern. All just speculation on my part ![]() Hell, out east nothing is too far from anything, right? Doug

That heading could have been setting it up for an approach to McGuire, which is southeast of me, but most of the military traffic I see on an almost directly east heading. Just seemed odd, but no idea. As you say, speculation.

Jan 16, 2023 05:18 | #2865 Just bought a 90D, and tried the Tamron 70-200 2.8. I never could get a really sharp pic out of my 60D with this lens. But JPEGS SOOC with the 90D are great. IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/2obHXzc![]() ![]() ![]()
