Interesting shot, John. They all look very Solemn. Must’ve been difficult to get a good angle on that memorial.

With the colour on the memorial and the trees it was difficult Ray.

The children do take it seriously I have to admit and I think it's a shame that the children here in the U.K. aren't involved. It should not be forgotten!

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

I think the problem here in the UK is that us who do remember and care are getting thin on the ground and there seems to be little loyalty to the home country anymore. In a few years time - or sooner - some do-Gooder will demand all the war memorials are removed completely and all the politically correct types will jump on the bang wagon and go along with it. Just look at the fuss over Francis Drake - it was on tonight’s news they have renamed a school because of historical links to the slave trade. Can someone down in the West Country nip over and get picture of his statue before it gets toppled into a harbour.

Well it is time for me to get some sleep and charge a few batteries - mine and the iPad’s.:-)

In the same vein as the previous post, here's the Gloucester Fisherman's Memorial in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The plaque with the names lists those killed on the Andrea Gail in the movie "The Perfect Storm":

A memorial in the Hague for the Dutch secret agents who were flown to the Netherlands during WWII. Many of them were captured and killed by the Germans. The memorial is called: Englandspiel
