:) Yes well we don't have them in the north. Actually I was surprised how much bigger than our red-backed fairy-wrens they were.

I didn't realise that. Surprised. Photos we've posted don't give the size difference away.
Red-backed 11.5 centimetres (4.5 in) and weighs 5–10 g (0.18–0.35 oz), averaging around 8 g (0.28 oz)

The Superb Fairy-wren is 14 cm (5.5 in) long and weighs 8–13 g (0.28–0.46 oz), with males on average slightly larger than female

That's a lot of difference

Red-backed fairy-wrens? Have you posted these yet - or have I missed them?

You have embarrassed me now, Pippan!:oops: I did like it first time around but I think my memory cell must now be running on a ‘slightly’ slower orbit due to our global cooling. But it was over 150 pages ago!:-)
Excellent shots though!

Wow, I hadn't realised our little Wild Birds of Oz thread had progressed so far. 297 pages! You are excused. Actually I often see a thumbnail of a photo that someones commented on and think I must have missed it first time round, only to find I'd liked it. I just didn't go public with my slowing cell ...

Our wrens here are quite characters
These are 2 of about 8 currently flitting about together.
At times they rise up on their haunches and stare into the never never
Fascinating watching.
I stroll quietly up to them and stop at about 6 - 8 metres, and watch them feeding in the drive. They bounce right up and past me seemingly unconcerned

Great egret from yesterday. These guys look so regal compared to the smaller egrets.
