BillinTexas Cream of the Crop More info | Jan 24, 2023 17:27 | #54677 Not on much these days but do follow several of you folks on Flickr. My wife and I moved two hours closer to the Texas Gulf coast back in August and are currently building a new house. We have been in our small RV since then but do have a metal building with appliances set up for use. I am closer to many photography opportunities here. We have put a bit of work into the place and are downsizing hopefully for the last time but this one will have no mortgage. We went to pick exterior paint yesterday and on the way back home came across a bald eagle pair along a back road. I had taken the A9 with a Tamron 150-500 on it with me. You shoot a lot of wide aperture shallow DoF already when it comes to landscapes...so I am sure you do this a lot. Mighty kind of you, thanks. I wish the Slider had been working, but it broke on day 1 and I fubared both sequences I shot using it prior to the break...It is more dynamic with the added motion, but I had to make do. Thanks for checking it out. I am asking a friend that lives near you...he might be in the market. no promises. Eddie xpfloyd lookalike More info | Jan 25, 2023 07:35 | #54682 TRhoads wrote in post #19471455 The only thing I don't like about the 16-35 GM, is that it doesn't focus as well or sometimes at all in low light...the Batis 18 was an absolute monster in that category...but outside of that, I really like the 16-35... The 35-150 is such an interesting lens. I hope to try and use it in good light this spring for school sports, I have only had a chance to use it indoors where ISO has to be high...it does tend to miss a little more than the 70-200 for sports, but it is so versatile. I won't use it for landscape, the lack of a tripod ring combined with how heavy it is, I don't want to mount it on the body and have it on a tripod. Shooting tonight at the school...was getting grief from a local pro that was there watching and not shooting...he was a Canon guy and was just a bit annoying with his comments...every old school pro thinks BBF is so critical...and then I go find his website...first image that comes up is about as soft as butter that has been sitting out in the Georgia sun...and then they all are....so I won't worry about his commentary! I’m going to be using it for mainly landscapes. I plan on adding a tripod collar to it though for the reasons you mentioned. Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

Even though I have the 1.2GM, this seems very interesting. The honest truth is I don't really need the 1.2 and the 1.4 is just fine for me, being a smaller size and lighter weight is more attractive. That is pretty interesting. I keep thinking about the 1.2, not cos I have a need for it, just because I really want to try it out. A 1.4 sized like the 35 1.4 would be nice though. I wonder how different the two prices are likely to be with 1.2 vs 1.4 Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

I wonder how different the two prices are likely to be with 1.2 vs 1.4 I’m similar. I’ve been trying to get back in tune with 50mm as well! Since I got the 35GM that’s pretty much all I use around the house and for any sort of gathering. But I had the Canon 501.2 EF in 2019 and whilst the AF drove me nuts, it certainly felt like it had a hint of magic, and therefore that’s all I used!! Also loved the size and feel of that lens. So I’d like to get back into it. Daft thing is I have the 551.8 and whilst I can’t really fault it for my needs, I don’t have any love for it. I’m excited by a 501.4 GM. I’ve been pondering the 1.2 as well. Slowly convincing myself the size penalty of the 1.2 isn’t worth it over the 1.4 - obv very subjective! I’ve looked at too many Flickr images recently on the subject. Any views on the 1.4 vs 1.2 thing? Jon

vinmunoz Cream of the Crop More info | Jan 26, 2023 09:15 | #54690 A couple of portraits from yesterday. These were shot at F5.6 with the Sigma 105 beast. Very sharp lens however I'm selling it because I'm getting the 135GM because of narrower compression.
