This is a close up of a Grevillea “Superb” in our back garden, a medium shrub which can reach about 1.5 metres in height by 2 metres wide. When this blooms, it will produce large apricot-orange flower clusters that attract birds and insects.

Tripod mounted, I took 20 frames using the Focus Bracketing method in the EOS R5 and then Aligned and Blended them in PS CC. There was a gentle breeze which I think affected the final stack, as the slight movement between frames “fooled” PS CC.

#2 shows a 1600x1600 pixel full res crop of the detail in the final image.

I have posted a wider views of this flower here:

https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=19456824

Taken with the Canon RF 100mm F2.8L IS USM Macro lens (not yet in database) and Novaflex Bellows, probably around 3.5:1

Cheers

Dennis

EDIT:
Wow – I just ran the same files through Helicon Focus and HF did a much better job of aligning and stacking the 20 frames, with much less background blur, so I replaced the original files with the new HF files.:-)

I love that second photo.

And thanks for the comment about stacking software. Too bad we have to buy Helicon when we (many of us) are already paying for PS. I have had success stacking in PS though, so it might depend on the photo.

Thanks Ed, I think that the blurring was the result of movement between frames due to breezes causing the flower to move between shots, with the various small parts having their own micro-movements rather than the flower moving as a monolithic whole.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

EDIT: The difference between PS CC and HF only became noticeable at full res, and then only in those small areas that had suffered slight movement.

I was photographing baby Eastern Sedgefrogs (Litoria fallax) at one of the local colonies last night, and this one jumped onto my finger. The photo shows how small they are!

Oh, wow. And although you call it a baby, I suspect it is probably an adult.

Thanks Ed! It's a juvenile that has only just completed metamorphosis... the adults are about 3 times larger, darker green and have more pronounced features. Here's an example. It's probably out most common local frog.

Very nice. Depending on how you look at it, that could either be a small rock, or a very big boulder.
