Interesting that training of soldiers was done by a “neutral” country.

Sorry Mac! Wrong assumption, Norway hasn’t been neutral since before WWII. We belong to the western alliance.
Sweden and Finland however, our neigbour countries, are neutral.

Thanks Analog! Just educating myself a bit more reading this https://www.britannica.com/place/Norway/World-War-II (external link)

I do love Norway and am currently planning a trip back to there next year, want to get to Lofoten. Wife and I are debating whether to hire an RV for a trip, or hire a car and stay in hotels. I did a tour in 1999, wanted to experience the midnight sun at the summer solstice and was in Bodo on the evening where unfortunately I brought Scottish weather and it was cloudy and wet!

I lived for three years in Lofoten (Leknes). The weather in Lofoten is unpredictable all year, but August/September are usually the best months concerning the weather. The winther storms comes in October and lasts to end of April. Not very pleasant! May, June and July are uncertain with frequent rain, fog and wind.
When it comes to accomondations I would recommend an RV vehicle since hotels are scarce and expensive. Public transport like buses are also uncertain to rely on.
Conclusion: Lofoten weather can be beautiful during summer and hellish during winter time.
I wish you good luck!

Hello from Michigan, USA. I am 57 years old and have been into photography since 2015. I was a oil painter for a long time and decided to give all my supplies to my son as I became disenchanted with the medium. Having a thirst to still create, I took to photography. I shoot digital and film. Fujifilm X100V.

I'm still here on this planet.
A specialist recently injected both hip capsules with steroids. It was less painful than a bee sting.
During civid guidelines in 2020 and 2021
I visited several parks and some marshes with birds to photograph.
In 2020 I used my coronavirus government stimulus check to help purchase EF L lenses.
EF L lenses were more important to me than a R5 body in 2020
Now 2 years later 05/2022 I'm getting used to my first mirrorless camera an R5
So far so good.

During coronavirus pandemic some individuals living here in the United States received a $1000.00 government check. It was sent to provide some financial relief.

They were called stimulus checks because one purpose was to stimulate the economy when many businesses were closed and travel declined. Their size varied, not always $1000.

Howdy, Fellow Oldsters!

It has been a while since I have posted for various boring (to others) reasons. However, I am getting interested in updating my camera, and have been lurking again on this forum. This thread has not been as busy as it used to be, and I am hoping it isn't because the Older Photographers are not getting any older.....

I saw that the page count on this thread was 666, and although I am not necessarily afraid of that number, maybe it would be good to post a couple of posts to get to page 667.

More to follow.

Adding to the page count.

I have a 5D Mark III that is still functioning, but I have been looking into going mirrorless. I think I have decided on getting the R6 Mark II. I will probably be asking some questions about that camera in a more appropriate thread after I do a bit more research. I don't want anyone to think I have been shirking my search duties.
