Cozi TV, Comet for SiFi, GRIT for westerns, MeTV, ION, and so many more. It's like being in the 70s again. :)

I watched them on MeTV. And yeah, those channels are good for reliving nightmare's of the 70's. Decades is the 50's on up. Go Donna Reed and Dick Cavett!

When was the last time you saw Marshal Dillon back in Dodge, how about Festus? You seen him recently??

I've not seen those shows for quite some time now. How I miss them. It's getting more difficult to find the old shows rerunning somewhere.

Gunsmoke is one of the many shows available on Dish Network. I do watch it occassionaly but not everyday.

Other shows are The High Chaparrel, Wagon Train, Daniel Boone, The Virginian, Let's Make a Deal (from the 1970's), Match Game (again from the 70's) and many more shows.

If your near a big city, why not get an antenna. When we cut cable several years ago, I bought one of those cheap place-mat looking antennas mostly to get our local channels. I was surprised at how many channels were available. Later I upgraded to a better antenna (external link) and it works perfectly. I get 200+ channels, most I would never watch, but all of the locals and their side channels as well as a plethora of other ones. Between a plain antenna for the daily stuff like the news, the judge shows for the MIL, and others channels, and Netflix and Amazon prime, I have not missed cable in the least.

I cut cable years ago, and went to dish, but cut that as well as I was paying a lot of money for maybe three channels that I routinely watched. I was also spending an abnormally large amount of time watching mindless movies and shows, and getting nothing else done. I bought an antenna and was surprised to find the number of channels and content that was free. There are a lot of them, some I'd never watch, some which have hooked me, and I also (hopefully not an age related thing) have a new respect for PBS. A lot of what I watch are crime shows from the early 2000's, such as Major Crimes, The Closer, Rizzoli and Iles and Crossing Jordan, Bones and others likes those. I live about 50 miles from Des Moines and know if I had a better antenna I would get more channels, but I'm happy with what I have. I did also drop Netflix but can't seem to let go of Amazon Prime. Maybe one day :-)

Need to borrow a sweater?

Another cold one here today. High 13, low -4, wind chills much lower of course.

Oh, oh, oh! I'll look those up! Some I know, others I didn't. Maybe I have those but didn't know what they were!

I love being able to record the shows I love on a DVR plus there are shows I love watching from channels like the History Channel, Discovery Channel, Science Channel and more. Are there devices available for recording TV shows from an antenna? How do I find the TV shows from History channel and more?

Maybe this will help. This is a free service that suggests streaming services based on your answers to their questions on your viewing.

I've used it and got very interesting results though we've still not cut the cord.
It's because we've just not been impressed with streaming services though we have a few for some can't miss shows. Or maybe we're afraid of change, IDK.

Anyway, maybe the suggested services and a good antenna is all we need???

I cut the cord several years ago when our monthly bill climbed to just over $250 a month. When we really say and too inventory, it was costing us $3000 a year for television. That's about $8.25 a day. We lowered our cost to just under $70 a month and that includes a land line. (Haven't convinced my wife to give it up yet). Netflix we get free with our mobile service, Amazon Prime we have just because we use Amazon so much and the rest we stream from free sites. We have not missed it at all.

Niether one of you talk about being able to record shows so I can watch them when I want to watch them.

The DVR is part of the cable/satellite box. I'm not sure if they sell stand alone units like that, or if they even make vcr's anymore. Personally I'm not aware of any way to duplicate a DVR option. Sorry about that. -?

Spoke too soon...here you go.
