Nice one. The road contrasts with the vegetation. It looks like it was cut or carved into the landscape.

Yes ... the outback and red soil is stunning and from the air paints another picture.

Do you know the story behind these structures? They look very interesting. When were these built?

Not so much as built but these are formations and nearby Uluru (formerly Ayers Rock). The Olgas are actually higher than Uluru, approx 200m at 546m (1791 feet) and twice the foot-print at 22km around.

It is in the centre of Australia and bucket list worthy, twice even.

And when it rains, there are plenty of waterfalls, it rained the morning we flew out so missed those.

Blimey Nick you don't need a wooden house with termites that big do you! And you can't get much further from the sea either!

They are magnificent and some lovely photos of them too. Mankind thinks that we can outdo nature? Dream on.

It's worth having a look at them on googel maps. It gives the picture of just how big they are.

That red reminds me of the laterite clay in Singapore. Dusty as hell when it's dry and like glue when it's wet, but I'll wager that that lot doesn't get wet very often?

It does rain and waterfalls appear. Australia has had unprecedented rain which has been devastating for many who have lost everything - house and all.
