Thanks for the link Nic. We learn something new every day. Must’ve been a nice job in the summer - but the winter when the canals were frozen over - Brrrrrr!-?
It seems that the girls were only used in the last two years of the war, fortunately, I think, the air raid activity had almost stopped by then or they would have been ideal strafing targets, and the main worry then was from V1 and V2 rockets coming over.

This is a Replica Dutch Canal boat built as a houseboat , spotted on the River Lea near Ware today.

That looks like one of the wide 'narrow boats' Kenny? Certainly wider than the standard 7'

I agree with Jack. It's a lovely, tranquil scene. Not speeding around either. The twits who do speed on the canals cause so much damage, but they don't seem to care?
