I own the 70-180mm and I like it for more fixed shooting, but for event use where I'm shooting and moving quickly and can't stabilize myself I find that I get a lot of blurry shots. The lack of IS can be a liability in this regard, as IBIS still isn't as good as OIS on the telephoto side of things.

But as a lightweight telephoto lens for travel, there isn't a better option IMO. A typical 70-200 f2.8 with proper OIS is not a fun lens to carry.

One thing I do miss about Canon is the IBIS, the way it was designed to work alongside IBIS and how all the lenses was it was great.

If I do get this lens which is likely it will be main for still life/product photography and landscapes so the IBIS isn’t too concerning for me thankfully.

That new 50 1.4 sigma looks nice .... small and priced right.

WTH do I want to look at a 50mm grrrrrr

Wait until that rumored 50GM is released, then you’ll be in an even worse place haha.

Thanks for the feedback on the phone. That is consistent with what I have heard. Plus now that I am old I am really liking the fold 3 and how big I can make my phone

Tetons are great love the work coming out of that trip

it was quite the disappointment, and then I proceeded to muck up everything trying to transfer back...so much app data transfers fine to the Sony..but would not go back the other way...it has been a really crap afternoon...so much data lost...my car vehicle maintenance log for the wife's car...thankfully I have paper copies for all of mine...my BP records for the last year, blood sugar levels for the last 6 months...vmad

I have the lens and it works for me on limited occasions of use. I never used a 70-200 much so saw little need to own one so this was a great option to fill that void. From this weekend with the lens. My youngest two grandgirls playing basketball.

how much noise reduction are you doing for ISO 8000 and above and what are you using for it?

I only have a couple of Canon lens left back from my Canon days (17 TSE and the 200 F2 ), I use the MC11 without any problems on both of those lenses. The TSE is manual focus of course but even with the Canon 200 F2 the autofocus works well with the Sony A!, focus speed is not as quick as on a Canon body but it's perfectly adequate for static shooting, not workable for BIF. I've used the MC11 with multiple Sony bodies without any issues R2,R3 and now the A1.

Very good information, thank you.
I ordered the MC-11 from Amazon and can’t wait to give it a test run.

Travis, I'm using Topaz DeNoise. I'm not where I can access my PC which is where I use it so can't tell you any particulars at the moment. I will get back to you. I know I just started using the "Clear" module instead of the Standard.

OK, I have that too...I generally shoot at 3200 and have not gone higher...maybe I will try it, and see if I get slightly sharper starting point. It would take forever to batch out 65-80 photos through Topaz...I don't edit any of them in PS, just LR.

Travis, I have actions set up in PS and run the DN as an action with batch processing. Denoise will take over the screen so I move it to a different monitor so I can go on working on something else. It really saves time. After my initial work in LR, I go to PS. Certain shots get individual treatment.
