Excellent sharpness. Truly a superb capture of the Little Egret hunting for a meal, Pippan! Both these Long-tailed Tit shots are super nice, Njal! Both are nice sharp image. Beautiful capture of the Carmine bee-eater, Charles! Very colorful bird. Very appealing shot of the beautiful Collard Kingfisher, Harry! A-Number-1 shots of the great blue heron Kirk! I especially like the first image. It convey a mood of peacefulness. Super nice shot of the Swamp Sparrow, Steve! It appears very sharp and lifelike. Great shot of the Greater Scaup drake, flurp! It's really great to be able to get such nice waterfowl shots from your window. Very nicely captured ruddy duck, Manny! Thank you, Mike. I agree, and it was peaceful out there in the morning. I'm going to have to pitch a tent there one night and catch them at sunrise. The park doesn't open until 8am. “You can’t stop what’s comin’; it ain’t all waitin’ on you—that’s vanity.” - Uncle Ellis

Taken at Myakka River State park, yesterday. It appears the removal of the dam there has made a difference in the water level. No boat tours now because of it. Thanks Mike. That was a very cold morning and they were more worried about keeping their place in line at the feed than about me being close. Ken

sogs Goldmember More info | Feb 20, 2023 10:28 | #24388 kd_reno wrote in post #19482612 Thanks. I hope they are helpful. Size and shape are important keys to shorebird ID, especially in the winter, but can be hard to describe. "This one is bigger than that one" doesn't quite work for someone who isn't familiar with "that one". That particular Knot was a local celebrity since they are rare migrants in Nevada. It hung around for a week or so and was very cooperative. When it wandered next to a flock of Dunlin I was hoping for a good comparison shot, and this was the only one where they both had their heads completely out of the water. You are so correct about size and shape. I haven't been as lucky as you in seeing one. They are around once in a great while. Time waits for no one!
