Congrats on passing and can’t wait to see your shots with it!

Thanks...I am really looking forward to using this one, the IQ is so much better than the little Mini 2 I started with, but I am glad I did it the way I did...crashing this one would be rough on the wallet.

What is the purpose of taking the test? is it for insurance reasons? I have a drone but so far am just using it in a "recreational"manner.

I want to be able to use it for my day job and my side job...so I had to go through with it. I have a client that I am shooting for this summer that wants aerials and it adds a cool video element to the work I do for him and so again...had to get the 107.

Passed my FAA 107 this morning! I think this thing is going to play a role in my future...
So stoked to be done studying...I hate taking tests and usually do very poorly...I have studied almost every night for the last month to prepare for this...

I have lots of ideas...one is a little trip to two watefalls that are outside of any state or national wilderness areas so I can fly there and I want to see how it does with a 1 or 2 second exposure. I will have to order the ND filters for it, but I will do that when I get back from Portugal.

Have you flown it much? Coming from the Mini2 I was blown away by just how fast this thing moves in Sport mode...like going from driving a Yugo to a Ferrari. But I saw a video this week on how to set the max speed, so I turned the CINE mode down to the slowest it will go and it delivers such buttery smooth slow video without being slow motion it is awesome...it will be just what I need out in CA this year.

Well its back to the work life for me.

I started working for a local Indian Tribe. I get to develop 3500 acres around the current Casino and Resort. It is a different world of politics but so far very welcoming. I fear that I wont have time for many outings but I need the pay check to play with the gear I have. https://wildhorsepass.com/development/ (external link) ... If I dont screw it up this may be the place I end my career. Very excited.

So I have already had busy weeks and wasnt able to get to these but this is from the World Hoop Dancing competition a couple of weeks ago. I got there late so had to shoot from a bad spot. used the a1 and the 70-200 with the 1.4tc

I am not good at shooting people so this was good practice.

I have it too. I love how small, light, internal zoom, and sharp. My only complaint is the barrel distortion on the wide end and only because I shoot real estate. I shot these photos with it but 34.5mm for the first pic and the 2nd one is 23.5. I try not to shoot wider than 20mm.

Nice. I have MP2 Pro and Mini 3 Pro for my real estate work and ended up using the baby drone more. less intrusive in neighborhoods and quieter. I got yelled at many times with my MP2. :(

Great shots and it is a great lens for what it offers. Thanks to how light it is, I plan to keep it in my bag at all times when I travel and if I need something wide then swap to it.

for travel, you should consider the new 20-70mm F4 too. I have it coming this Wednesday. I can't wait.

but where's Gene's signature? lol

Congrats on your 107. I know it's a pain. The recurrent is easier and can be done online.

here, you can bookmark it because no one mentions this anywhere. My son found this out for me.
