Another ringed greenfinch in the garden identified. This is PF35027 who was ringed as a first year male in Nov 2020 about 5 miles away. The ringer told me he has done 20 greenfinches between then and now and 10% of them have been identified here. :)

Beautiful, I haven't seen one in over a year, there used to be many here. Maybe Tichomonas killed them.

Het wachten waard!

Thanks! Both of them were asleep, only opening an eye once in a long while.

What a great sight that flock is! A great capture.
Pretty cool that they’re Brent geese. I’ve never seen one here.

Pretty bird and very nicely photographed. Such a clean shot.

Thanks Levina, and I only processed it to show the ringer! :)

Thanks Patrick, I've only had 3 or 4 here before this year, there has been at least 11 here recently. The greenfinch population here fell by 67% between 2008-18 due to trichomonosis and chaffinches are down 29% same period same cause. The greenfinch is now a red list bird :(

Sad but strange(chaffinches we got lots, regular 10 or more in our city garden). Greenfinches are seen a lot less in our country to, not just our garden.

Chaffinches in the wild are rather hard to get close to. They’re skittish. So I always enjoy shots like these, with the bird much larger in the frame. They are beautiful birds. Well, the male is. The female is fairly drab looking unfortunately.
