1) Equipment I need to purchase for an amateur, not for profession
2) Where can I find the relevant forum for help

Thanks in advance.

Depending where you are if it is under 250 grams, no need for license.
Link above have one, very popular.
YT has plenty for drones and particular models.

For a complete list of POTN forums, click/tap the word "Forums" at the top of any page––the word in ordinary type just before "New posts," not the big, ornate one.

The forum you want is here: Drone & remote photography

Hi all,

Thanks for your reply.

I have following questions;

1)
What camera shall I purchase ?

2)
Can I mount a smart phone on Drone as camera ?

3)
Remote control
If mounting a smart phone as camera I can remote control it via another smart phone as control, running "Remote Desktop" technology. The video and/or photos captured are stored on the camera-smart phone. Can I have the video and/or photos stored on the control-smart phone directly?

4)
If purchasing a camera, will the remote desktop features available on the camera.

Please advise. Thanks

Regards

What will be the solution to capture photos and video of myself? What device shall I use?

I'm now using extension rod with smart phone mounted at its end but the result is NOT good and there are limitations.

Thanks

Regards

I'll report this to the mods for you. They can move a thread to another forum, we can't.

1) Drones usually have their own camera, except for the very expensive "professional use" drones
2) See #1 above.
3) Drones usually have their own remote control. Some very cheap drones use a phone or tablet for remote control but those are range-limited, using a wifi connection
4) See #1

https://www.parrot.com/us/drones/anafi-usa (external link) (their web page seems more tailored to commercial users than before)

After the thread gets relocated, people with more knowledge than I will reply.

You'll find there are limitations to drones, too. Wind comes to mind. Every year around Christmas, Nextdoor.com has listings about lost drones because the wind blew someone's Christmas present away. There is also a learning curve to flying them.

Hi all,

Lot of thanks for your advice.

I think that I'm looking at the wrong device. I'm looking for a device for self-capturing during travel abroad. I'll start a new thread on;
General Gear Talk ->
Tripods, Monopods & Other Camera Support

Regards

Hi,

Thanks for your link.

I just notice that some countries have regulation on Drone. Then I need to check the countries, which I'm going to visit, about their regulation on Drone. It is NOT convenient.

How much money are you looking to spend?

I would recommend starting with a used mavic mini off of eBay or Facebook marketplace. It’s an amazing fun drone to learn and crash. Make sure you get DJI care refresh so you’re not worried about the eventual crashes!

Based on the vague nature of your specific questions, I think you first need to do some more research on your own to learn more about what it is that you are looking for.

My advice would be to determine a budget and then you can look for models that offer the most useful features for your budget.
