I just filled my bird feeders since it's officially Spring. I should have lots of cats to choose from in a day or two. :-)

Another atmospheric river is coming through. What is this, the twelfth this season? Something like that, I lost count. Noisy rain, wind. The satellite dish on the roof next door wobbles in gusts.

You west coasters. It's too dry... It's too wet... Never happy. :):):)

The noisy rain I can live with. I hate the strong winds. We have simple Spring rains moving in over the next few days. My grass is going to get green and grow, and I'll need to hire someone to groom my estate. I hate hiring people to do what I love doing.

Don't forget the ground moving around on it's own...That's where I learned to attach furniture to the walls with brackets.

No, I moved there in 1991. The person I lived with was there in 89, in her office on the Embarcadero across from Pier 39. She told me of the nightmare. Her son was in Pacifica coming home from school with his friends. The only thing they noticed were the shopping carts at Safeway rattling around the parking lot. Once I moved there, it did take a little while to get used to the couch and my office chair rocking during the daily tremors.

The Embarcadero is built on fill, as you undoubtedly know by now. I mention it to enlighten aliens in eastern parts who only have floods and ice storms and tornadoes. Those daily tremors aren't detectable by humans in buildings on rock, only by seismographs. Minor earthquakes are also harder to notice if you're outdoors. But a woman I worked with at the time told me her son was running when '89 hit, I think in a race, and he was surprised when his foot landed in the wrong place on the ground.

I was in a store, shopping. Big front windows faced another store across the street. The vertical architectural features of the two stores were moving back and forth sideways, crossing each other.

I'm also not sure how many people are aware that a good portion of the city is built on landfills, such as the Marina District which is why it experienced so much damage.

I am guessing the ground opened up at that time. His foot went where the ground split open? Was he injured badly?

Nothing like that happened. It was only that the ground moved sideways while he was in the air and his foot didn't come down where he expected it to.

I imagine it's pretty safe living on that pillar of yours except for those really windy days...

I like to sleep with lots of pillars, big fluffy ones. I don't like the hard neck breaking pillars. Too uncomfortable for me.
