I think I'm about to dump this set up. Camera doesn't seem to want to focus properly even in pretty large birds. Almost seems as if 200mm is as much as things can handle.

Everything with the Sigma 150-600 was just trash no matter what I did, even off a tripod at over 1/1000 sec with is turned off and one shot. Time to walk away from the lens for a while... vmad

Anyway, switched to the canon 70-200 f/2.8L is ii and managed to get a little something, a coot I believe...

Actually I kinda like the texture and colors of the water here :-)

Many thanks Mike.
Those Bitterns sure are elusive and camouflage well.
A spotter for the Audubon Society kindly showed me their location.

First-rate shot of this male Superb Fairy Wren perched on the old fence post, Richard! As usual, I love the setting, but I hate to see that gorgeous blue color suit of his just fade away.:-(

A-Number-1 capture of this Verdin, Tom!

You certainly made a very nice capture of the Hermit Thrush, Ken!

Thanks, I'm sure you're right. Sibley has some illustrations of immatures but it was hard to tell.

Nice shot, Richard. Do they molt the colorful feathers?

Thanks Bill
Yes they do. But just to confuse, not all males. Some keep their full colours all year
