So I was using a wired remote switch from Vello until it broke recently. I got a new Vello switch but it didn't work and tried another one from Kiwifotos with no luck. I'm not sure if there's something wrong with the camera port or if the switches are faulty. Has anyone trying fixing something like this themselves? Suggestions appreciated.

You could try testing the switches for continuity with a multimeter. (May need a second pair of hands...) I've also had occasions when I thought my remote was broken, but I hadn't pushed it in all the way because the recess around the port is so deep. (I have the FZ2500, but I assume the design is pretty similar.) Try plugging the remote in again and rotating it a bit, then push in again to make sure it's seated all the way. Hope that helps!

Thanks, I did try rotating and pushing it in. But multimeter is a good idea.

I have a different 2.5mm MIOPS cable I use with Canon, but for some reason it makes the FZ freak out. Go figure. Good luck!
