Thanks Bluewave42. Definitely a .mov file. I'll try your suggestion of using an older version (I did download the latest version). Appreciate your support and will let you know how I get on. Cheers.

Progress of sorts.
I was unable to download any earlier versions of the Processing software.
So
I put my new .mov file in the library and changed the name 'street' to my file name on lines 20 and 21, hit play and nothing happened. Changed start point to 1 on line 28 and hit play. A still from my .mov file appears in a window but then nothing else.
This is definitely progress but something I am still not doing correctly. Any ideas please?

Yes, Dried hydrangea flowers from my yard.

I built a stepper motor controller and got the speed just right .

Not a base, rather I hung the flowers from a dental floss up to the motor.

D. Cashew...

After reading the comments in the "script" it became pretty easy to figure out a way to get it to work.
It might not be ideal, but at least I am getting results.

I would really like to know more about how this script takes the data and processes it so I can experiment with different outputs from the same input.

When I process a MOV file...

I check to see how long it is in seconds.
Then I check the frame rate of the video. On the camera I use it is 59.94 frames per second.
So, multiply 59.94 times the amount of seconds for the total number of frames in the video.
You also have to change length of video from seconds to milliseconds to get value used in CLOSEAFTER

I enter this value in TWO places in the "script" .

At MAXFRAMES
and at SCANFRAMES
insert total milliseconds of video length in
CLOSEAFTER=

Also change name of video file (MOVIEFILENAME)
and change output file OUTFILENAME

I think that about does it for me...

AlpSo, Thanks so much. It works. No doubt I will get the hang of it in time but without your help I would never have got this far. Thanks a million.

Interesting article although some of the technical aspects went over my head!

I managed to find the 1983 Renault Encore commercial on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jucVhkndMfM (external link)

Anyone know a line of code I could add to make the video play muted?

A meandering runway brought to you thanks to Microsoft Flight Simulator (much cheaper than getting a real plane). Unfortunately my framerate let me down a bit meaning I lost a lot of the nicer, finer details and ended up with quite a stubby image. I'll probably try this again with a properly staged recording.

Hey everyone !

I know it's a pretty old thread but the slitcam website seems to be down now, so does anyone here still got the software ? If it's the case would you be kind enough to share it ?

Thanks ! ;)

Internet Archive's Way Back Machine to the rescue!

Slit-cam download page (external link) (you'll need to copy and paste the code into a Processing window).

You're welcome. Hope Martin can get the slit-cam site working again.

You might like to try SlitScanGenerator (external link), a standalone C++ app written by Jan W. Krieger; no need for Processing.
