Those aren't sea horses and sea birds? :-)

I see horses, I see birds,
I see Capn play with words.

Took this pic of a Bigg's Killer Whale, designated T019B, locally known as "Galiano". He's an absolutely huge male. Galiano, his mom and Orcas from other pods were hunting Steller's Sea Lions on the evening of the 23rd. 15 different animals were present! San Juan Island, Washington.

A southern right whale and her calf. Image captured in Hermanus, South Africa. While I was photographing the couple, the calf exhaled from its blowhole and a rainbow formed in the cloud of moist air.

Lovely to see, Charles! Is this off the South African coast? I wonder if the southern right whales are faring better than their North Atlantic cousins, who are in desperate trouble.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Thanks Sam. I'm not a whale expert by any stretch but I'm told the population has made a bit of a comeback off the south african coast. I spent some time in Walker bay last week and there were a lot of whales in the bay. Hope things improve for them across the globe.
