Deleting the content would really be a disservice to the consumers. Personally, I've always preferred thedigitalpicture.com, but I did appreciate the comparison tool on DPReview.

As far as declining camera sales, I'm not overly concerned on behalf of the photography industry. Cameras arent going anywhere, but I wonder if cameras have become too accessible. At first glance, accessibility could be viewed as a positive, but then I think about how many "photographers" have popped up over the last 5-8yrs. It seems like the people who would have normally jumped into an entry-mid level camera are now satisfied with their smartphone camera. Perhaps the pendulum is just swinging back towards the center and we're seeing a healthy downsizing of users. Smartphones are still far off from the capabilities of a full frame camera, so those truly interested in the hobby/profession can still separate themselves from the casual "soccer mom" photographer.

So sad to see this. I’ve been a member for 20 years this last January. A wealth of info there…soon to be gone.

Likely hoping for a buyer.

The announcement was a stunner. I guess I'm down to PotN, Fuji Forums and Photrio/APUG now, plus the occasional visit to Photo.net.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

What Roger Cicala said and this what I thought was going on. Many people mad at Amazon and boycotting which won't make a difference to them. It's easy to understand why people are upset but this is a dose of realty. By the way I'm not a big fan of Amazon.

And there is also www.fredmiranda.com (external link).

But it's hard to find the kind of tests that DPReview has run.

Yes it is. Lots of good stuff on YouTube, some bad. I've become a fan of Jared Polin. As for lenses when is the last time Canon put out a bad lens. There are few lens review sites out there but I never did any research with my RF lenses. I figured if I didn't like them I'd just return them.

My guess is no one wanted it or at least isn't willing to pay the price.

It's tax time, I'm sure they have a great write-off to balance out there insane revenue.

That could be the reason it failed. People stopped buying new equipment so no one was reading reviews any longer. Reduced traffic = reduced revenue. Once it falls to a certain level, it doesn't make sense to keep it open. Has more value closed. Simple business.

Interesting about the reduced traffic.

This is DPReview stats.

"according to Similarweb the total number of monthly visits is 7 million, while the average number of unique visitors per day is 197,712."

It has been stated by DP Review that past reviews will continue to be available for reading. And they are open to someone taking over the data. Trying to find where I first read the preceding.

[Update] Info via Petapixel https://petapixel.com …-archive-after-it-closes/ (external link)

There are efforts to archive the data

More info
As of Monday, May 8, 2023, Imaging Resource's website had been offline for over two days with no explanation for why the site had been taken down after nearly 25 years.
