Male and female Black-necked Storks at Fogg Dam - the female is the one with the yellow eye. They seem to come together like this to reestablish their bond. Beautiful birds and not afraid of the photographers near by :-)

They protect against foragers, especially thirsty ones in the desert. Cacti store a lot of water.
