A few photos from a day trip with a couple friends out along the BNSF Needles subdivision (March 31, 2023):

Westbound train climbs up grade at Klondike heading toward Ash Hill and beyond while an eastbound train heads down grade approaching Siberia heading toward Amboy.

An eastbound train came at the right time.

It’s wide open. I was shooting with my 100 - 400 zoom. I moved away from the tracks before the train got to my spot.

Yesterday I chased my hometown short line which is owned by R.J. Corman. They're celebrating 50 years of operations this year, and have painted several locomotives recently acquired to reflect this. GP15-1 #1560 is currently down here for a short period of time(so I've been trying to chase it). The sun wasn't out but it let me try a different angle at Deatsville which would normally be backlit. The green depot at Limestone Springs is where the "Czechoslovakia" scenes in the Bill Murray movie "Stripes" was filmed.

Nice memories of my transpotting days as a boy in the 1950s. I frequently saw that very engine. Thanks.

A bit of variety today on Norfolk Southern in central Kentucky.

NS 335 had a pair of Wellsboro & Corning Railroad SD40-2s in tow for rebuilding in Paducah:

Been waiting a long time for this one. I've been stopped here many times, this is the first time I was first in line!
