Then again - I seem to recall that most of the chipped adapters don't work on RF bodies. Mine sure don't.

Hmmm...interesting that RF mount is somehow 'differernt' in lens communication so that EF chip emulators will not work even thru the EF-to-RF adapter.

That kind of problems have happened regularly with third party lenses and new EF bodies. Why should the new RF bodies be any different?
