ozulrike Goldmember More info | Apr 28, 2023 22:07 | #28558 MatthewK wrote in post #19511871 Along with the Yellow-rumps, the other early Spring visitors are the Palm Warblers. Whereas the YRWs like the mid-story of a forest, the Palms are a skulking type that prefer being at/near the ground, so a different approach is necessary. My 800PF was too much lens, in terms of both reach and MFD, so I switched over to the 400 4.5 for a looser FOV and to be able to get closer to the warb as it skipped along the ground towards me. Well, even the 9' MFD proved too much at times, quite often I really could have used a 100-400; in fact, this Palmie got so close that I snapped a shot w/ my iPhone Beautiful, and thanks for reflecting on the lenses. I am quite happy with my 400mm and agree, sometimes you are still too close. Living in a beautiful part of the world!
