Here is my first milky way effort of the year. I got a Stonehenge milky way shot last year but was keen to go back and improve on my previous efforts, especially now I have the MSM star tracker. I did all the planning and was fully committed even though it was a Wednesday night and work the next day. After being there a while I couldn't even see the milky way, with the naked eye or from test shots. After a while I noticed it on some pictures but realised how faint it was due to the light pollution (from Salisbury) in the background. Still I like the angle I took the stones from so I stayed for the best part of two hours before going home a bit deflated. I wasn't even going to bother processing it but after speaking with a couple of people (including Lee) I decided to spend a bit of time on it. Not gonna lie, it took me ages to blend the two images together and work the faint bit of detail that was in the milky way. Happy with the end result and I actually like the backlighting now, but definitely still room for improvement! Hope you all like it!

That's nice Jon. I like it. Glad you decided to give the editing a go!!

Certainly pretty faint but still better than the "Dehaze slider to +100" edits that float around from time to time ;-)a

Ha ha - thanks matey. Yeah the interpretation of what to show on a MW pic varies a lot! The overcooked ones don’t appeal to me either, especially when you can see very little detail with the naked eye.

First image from my Smokies Spring trip. Nothing like getting out in the water to get a different angle.

Shot on the a9, because this was after the A1 and I went swimming on Day 2 of the trip...A1 and 24-70GM are a total loss...so if anyone has a lead on an A1 from a reputable seller...please let me know. I debated going with something else, but after having one, I can't go back...

Unfortunately, with the chaos of life last year I didn't renew my policy...it just wasn't on my radar. It's on my to do list now.

I haven't renewed my insurance as well. It's on my to-do list now with what happened to your gears.

yeah, with my wife in the hospital, and not shooting much of anything it just wasn't a priority...my policy makes me update the gear list every year to make sure I am current...I am updating my spreadsheet right now.

Beautiful image Travis! Your post (and follow-up to Vinz) truly makes my heart hurt regarding your loss and wife in the hospital. I sincerely hope everything turns out well for you and family.

Thanks. My wife is doing much better, the end of last year was pretty bad. But we are making progress.

The A1 on the other hand is dead...shows no signs of life.
