I didn't know they existed in the real world outside Looney Tunes! Ummmm.

The roadrunner is a desert bird. If you've never seen one, you should have turned left at Albuquerque (external link).

We have quite a few around the house. They are very brave birds letting you get within feet of them. Rather fearless. Unlike Lunny Tunes, they do not eat birdseed but we spot them often as they go hunting lizards on our screens.

Sometimes we see them grab one of these, a common Texas brown snake.

Haven't seen them eat one of these either, just too big I suppose. Harmless Texas black snake of coach whip. About time they come out of hibernation. Haven't seen one this year yet.

Ran across one of these (not this one) on one of my morning hikes. Let me tell you, they do get your attention rather quickly.

Dang.. Look at all those pictures. One would think that they wandered into a photography forum or something odd like that.

We have those but no roadrunners.
Keeping with the new photography theme.

My friend lives in Arizona. And thanks JJ, I'll never be visiting Texas again

I did know roadrunners existed, I just didn't know they were that small. Like ECC, my only reference was Saturday morning cartoons.

I've never seen a lizard around here either, but that doesn't mean they aren't here. They are really good at hiding. Snakes, yeah, but in town only the friendly, non-homicidal types.
