We have a Harbor Freight and a Northern Tool less than 1/2 mile apart and opposite sides of the highway. I tend to favor Northern Tool as they have more quality items but for a one and done type job, can't beat Harbor Freight. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I mentioned to my boss last week that the utility trailer our company owns has never had new tires. It's probably close to 30 years ago when we bought it (new). At the time the tires were used (yes they only put used tires on the new trailer, up charge for new ones). I took a look at them today, and they are Montgomery Ward, "The Gas Miser" tires. Bet those things are close to 40 years old already. Might be good for another 10? At least the trailer is always stored indoors so the tires aren't dry rotted. Amazing how ling things last when you get the sun's UV off of it. We use to store our boat outside and had to replace the tires about every 4~5 years or so even though they had easily less than 200 miles on them. It was only 1.5 miles from the house to the boat launch. We never left the boat in the water so maybe made 20~30 trips a season. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Unless the tires are just too old, there is a DOT code on the tires that contains the date of the manufacturer of the tires. It should say DOT followed by 13 numbers. The last two of the numbers are the year and the next two numbers back from that are the week. I tried to see if I could figure out the code from the photo, but I could not from my laptop. Philip

My stretchy pants are in the laundry. No wonder it didn't make sense. I'll address that tomorrow. I don't do the basement when it's dark since I'm not sure what makes the noises down there at night.
