We're finally getting a bit of springtime here in the Pacific Northwest. R6ii + RF 100-400 STM at 400. Slight crop for composition. I love the R6ii sensor. No problem with ISO 16000. Just a little noise reduction in LR.

Right after the R6 mark II was launched I wanted to upgrade to it from my R6. However, asking several shops for a quote on my R6, those quotes were shamefully low (one as low as € 1100  ) so I stayed with my R6. Yesterday I thought I could try selling it myself on a Dutch online marketplace, just to see what would happen. I didn’t exactly expect much as I am truly dreadful at selling stuff.

There were a few other R6’s on offer. The lowest price was € 1750 so I set the price at € 1700.

The R6 was sold within the hour.

It was picked up from my home a few hours later.

I am now without a camera.

I have an R6 mark II on the way.
Should be here tomorrow.

Yay!

I've been trying to sell my like new, barely used R for months with no luck. Can I send it to you to sell on that Dutch site for me? :-P

Thanks!

I never sold a camera before testing out a new one so I’m actually a little bit scared. The Mk II had better be good! It does have some pretty big shoes to fill as my R6 was fantastic.

It's here!

First impressions: body isn't much different from the Mk I. The new location of the on/off button is something to get used to, but I love the stills/video switch. Switching from stills to video and back on the R6 is rather painful and you can't customize a button to toggle between the two modes, like you can on the R5. So this is great! Not that I do much video, not at all, but I would like to do more and flipping a switch to change modes is perfect.

I will take out the camera in the coming days for a real test but after dialling in some settings and paired with the RF 100-500 I shot some gulls flying by my apartment (3d floor) and I have to say that the AF feels quicker and seems to stick more. Especially with birds farther away it's very noticeable. The R6II found them instantly where the R6 often did not. I'm very happy with that. The improved AF is actually the main reason I wanted to upgrade and on the gulls just now, it did not disappoint. So I am happy. Now all I need is some better weather.

I have set up the camera pretty much the way I did the R6. But it's clear that the Mk. II's AF system is quite different from the Mk. I. I've set things in a way that seemed logical and it did seem to work on the gulls in flight, but we'll see. I may come ask for your help. :-P
