Nice on all the shots, they are hard to shoot they are so fast!

Thanks, Jeff.
Yes, they are little bullets. But the R6II did very well. Still, they're challenging to say the least.

I spray and pray and still have a low hit rate.

If I am not mistaken you have the RF100-500, correct? I am trying to decide whether to give my 100-400l mk II to my son and tell him to sell his mk I, and getting the 100-500, although it won't work on my backup 90D but it will on my R6ii and R7. For the 90D I can get 400mm with my 70-200iii and 2xiii extender and the 90D is a backup anyway.

Not sure what to do

Yes, I shoot birds with the RF 100-500 almost exclusively. Only at dawn will I bring the EF 300/4L. My EF 400/5.6L is gathering dust now.

Jeff, what’s the reason you’re hanging on to the 90D? What does it do that your R7 can’t? Or is it really just a backup? Just wondering.

I still have the 1DIII, 1DIV, 5D classic and even my very first DSLR, the 40D. None get used now. Selling is hardly an option though as there’s no market for them anymore. Last year I wanted to trade in the 1DIII and the 1DIV for the R6II. Shop didn’t want them as nobody wants those any longer. But then, even the quote for my R6 was shamefully low.

The 90D is totally a backup and can be used by my middle son, who has my 70D and 80D. I also have my 7Dii that one is if I have to shoot in a heavy rain. Both of those really don't have any value anymore. I also have my 5D Classic on my shelf with all my old cameras.

All the cameras on my shelf over my desk are cameras I have used including on the far right out of the frame a Kodak folding camera that was my Grandfathers in the 20's and 30's.

Missing is my Nikon F3HP that my son is still using off and on

Hi all. Shooting a soccer match last night and set the ISO to Auto. Using AV mode around f3.2, ef70-200/2.8 lens with adapter. I noticed after a while that the ISO was stuck at 100, and no matter where i pointed the camera it was staying there. The game is in a HS stadium with the sun to the west, highlighting the stands and causing the field to mostly be in shade. No matter where i pointed the camera, the iso stayed at 100 despite the stands being extrememlyh brighter than the field. Has anyone has this issue, and if so, what did you do to fix it. I eventually just placed it on 800, then 1600, then 3200 as the daylight went to night and we were under stadium lights.

thanks

I had been thinking of adding the 24-240 to my R6ii but then I remembered that for 4 years in the Navy my personal camera was a Pentax Spotmatic with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. Walked all over the Med with that setup and got some nice shots.
I have the 24-105 STM and that should do for the most part and I also have the RF 100-400 and it is light enough that it will easily carry in a shoulder bag.
I think I will keep what I have. Of course tomorrow is another day LOL

Sounds like a smart move, Jeff.

How you shot with a 50/1.8 lens made me think of Canon’s Nifty Fifty and how I love that focal length. That’s the result of participating in the “Where’s Nifty?” thread years ago, here on POTN (thread is now retired). It forced me to shoot with the 50mm only and I ended up loving it.

I don’t often shoot with it now as my main subject is birds and I mostly stopped participating in POTN’s challenges, but when I do use it, I’m always pleased with the results. One of the first non-bird lenses I purchased in the RF-mount was the RF 50/1.8. Cute little thingy too. :-P

I have the EF version. It's on a Canon Eos 1 film camera right now!!!
