Male and Female Regent Bowerbirds, taken last week in the Lamington National Park.

The male can often be seen as a golden yellow dart flitting through the canopy in search of fruit.:-)

One of the local Rangers suggested that the Female plumage is more drab, so she is less conspicuous when sitting on the nest.

Cheers

Dennis

Yellow crowned night heron chick in nest. He is in the process of eating some chunks of Florida land crab his mama had just brought to him.

Very happy

Jimmy this is a beautiful shot. I have never heard of them before, but they do look very interesting with that dark feather coming off the top of its head

Thanks so much, ja4ever!

Wonderful captures of both the male and the female Regent Bowerbirds, Dennis! The male is truly a beauty. This is a new species to me.

Nice rub-a-dub shot, Mike. They sure do clean up with a fury!

Thank you, Kirk. They act as though they are very angry with the water.:-)

Thank you kindly, Pax. This shot hangs in our bathroom. It reminds me to take a bath every Saturday.

Nice set, beautiful birds.

Thanks, these birds tend to visit the O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat more in winter, when the trees are not fruiting in the forest.

The local Rangers have a licence to put out a tray of chopped fruit in the morning and this makes the birds more accessible, towrds the edge of the forest.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

These are outstanding!! Wow!!!!!

Thanks Ed, the winter time dish of chopped fruit put out by the local Rangers helps bring these birds out of the depths of the rainforest. In the summer they tend to vanish from sight as there is plenty of native fruit on the trees.:-)

Cheers
