With this new WFH model, weekends are pretty much the same as weekdays just not so hard. :( OI always have something that needs to be done by Monday morning.

I did the WFH and hated it. It's like I never left work. I would close the office door, but the idea that I could/should do something was always present. I worked afternoons and my mornings always felt like dead time since I really couldn't do much as I had to be in my office at 11am.

I'm sort of the opposite, I love it. I have my office in the corner of our family room so I'm not locked away. I tend to be online more hours but really dont put in a lot more work as I do other things as well. If I need to take a hour or two during the day like to go shopping or to the range or something like that, I just go. But then my job is not really measured in hours but in output. In the office, so much time is wasted going to BS meetings, having people come around just to chat and waste time and such. Makes the day longer with non-productive activities.

One requirement for homeworkers is to have a dedicated room with a door, i.e. an office. Our work was "delicate" and for our eyes only. Before we were approved, someone would come to the house and approve the work space. My second bedroom became a corner office, and was already set up for my photography work, so it was pretty much an easy transition. I have a couple windows in that room, so that part was cool. We had stats we had to meet daily, which wasn't too bad, but when we took over a company in the P.I., they chose 5 of us as "Offshore Internet Supervisors", so I had to do my work, plus assist those in the Philippines who would come to us with issues. Chat and Video meetings broke up the day, and Spotify was my saving grace. After about a year I did miss the actual human interaction of the office though. I did have to swear my cat to secrecy, however, so she had proper clearance.

Is this work so delicate that you can't say anything about what it is? -?

Only to say we provided information based services for US and International companies. Nothing government related, only corporate. For what I did, it seemed a bit over-kill on the security side. I enjoyed the work, didn't mind the oversight and liked the people I worked with. WFH was isolating for some of us, but we had our own food and bathrooms, had no dress code, had access to our phones, which had to be locked in our lockers when in the office, and would use them to relieve some of the isolation. I went home the year before Covid. Once Covid hit, everyone who could work from home was sent home. Those who couldn't work from home were offered other positions which didn't require the security, or received pretty generous severance packages. Once I got sick and had to step back, I lost contact with a lot of people, but I understand they are still working from home, with the exception of management. They are still in their offices.
