Although I still have a lot of my old Craftsman tools. Those things were like the poor man's SNap-on.. Not fancy by very functional and last forever. I still have a old metal body jig saw that works perfectly. A few years back the cord frayed and it would gove you a mild shock when using it if you touched something grounded, but I re-wired the power cord with a three prong and it's perfect now. That thing is a beast. You can hammer nails with it if you're too lazy to get a hammer.

My most joyful tool was an Estwing hammer - come on cast with one piece of steal, it was a revelation over the head and shaft types before them - and got to love the shape of the necks.

What are you peoples go to YouTube channels? I do mostly automotive content like Cleetus McFarland, VGG, Puddn's Fab Shop. But also enjoy Off the Ranch/Demolition Ranch. Recently I've found the Professor of Rock and a couple different sites that do electronics repairs on game consoles.

It's my decompression time after 9 when the kids should be off to bed. Yet in the summer, they really have no curfew. Did I mention my 8 year old, going to be 3rd grader learned Pi to 100 places? Actually 106 places. He picked it up in less than a week.

Obviously a ton of photography channels. I learned a lot of what i know of photography from YT. I follow the reviews of new gear and gear, new or old I am interested in. I also followed a ton of channels on home repair/remodeling when I bought my home, and still use it for tasks I have never done before. I don't really follow any one channel regularly, but I will admit I also follow some haunted stuff. I have been into haunted/ghost stories since I was a child, and it followed me into my adult life.

After my memory came back, I did use YT to relearn a lot of what I lost while I was away, lol. It greatly helped me regain much of what I lost, and fortunately I was great at bookmarking videos that I found very helpful, so I had those to fall back on as well.

I'm all over the map. I have found that there is scant little I watch on regular TV these days, it's almost all Youtube or streaming. On the Tube, we'll watch SerpaDesign as we are into aquariums and that guy is an aquascape master, been watching dry-pour concrete recently as we have a concrete project ongoing, an occasional Adam Savage episode just for fun or maybe a bit of FailArmy. But mostly it's random. I start with something and follow some recommended youtube in the recommend list and keep going. I am subscribed no nothing.

Well, one out of two ain't bad. I like both of those. Fleischer Studios created some amazing animation techniques, given that the field was pretty new in the 1930s. They also made Popeye and Superman cartoons.

Max Fleischer was pure genius. That BB cartoon is a cartoon masterpiece. Without his early work, all the others that came later, Disney, Otto Messmer, Leon Schlesinger, would have turned out much different. Keep in mind, he did this back in 1915 or about, just as film was starting.

But! Nothing beats the original Disney cartoons and movies. The detail that went into the animation was amazing. In grade school, we used to pay a nickel to watch an hour of Disney cartoons once a week after school which included cookies and milk.

Yea... I mildly disagree. Disney is all pretty and stuff, and he did some pretty amazing things early on, especially with the silly symphonies, but much of his animation is rather bland and the stories clearly geared to kids. Looney Toons (especially the old ones) and old Superman are way better. Quality animation and more well developed story lines..

Disney's and Fleischer's were artistic in different ways. For instance, Disney excelled at detailed background landscapes. Fleischer pioneered the distortion of figures in motion and the morphing of a thing into a different thing as used later in Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies.

How many pennies in that nickel went to build Disney's entertainment empire? In sixth grade, when we learned to write with ballpoint pens, the teacher handed out pens from a box. The pens were donated by Bank of America. Nice of the bank to aid kids' education, right? But wait, each pen had "Bank of America" printed on it. I wonder why. They were lousy pens, by the way.

This would have been '69-'70. It was a brand new school, and they set the projector up in the cafeteria. It was pretty cool. It was pretty popular, a lot of kids showed up.

Looney Toons was awesome. I never saw the Superman Cartoons. I remember the show, but don't remember any cartoons. However I DO remember Mighty Mouse! I remember being sort of mesmerized by the saturation and colors of Disney cartoons, especially the Christmas ones, which is maybe why I was such a fan, and still am, if you can find the old ones anymore.

I am guessing our school district was pretty well funded. The pens and pencils they handed out all had the name of the school district on them. I was 4 when we moved to the area, and it was all brand new housing. For elementary school I believe I attended 5 different schools. When a new one was built closer to my house, that was the school I went to until finally in 6th grade they built a school about 3 blocks from my house. I was bused to the first few schools, and then was able to walk to school. Our pens were lousy, too. The cheap plastic pens that sort of felt sticky. At 63, and for all I've done in my life and places I have been, I still have some pencils from school with the district name on them. I agree, Fleischer's cartoons were great, too.
