Lookin' at the UK kind, it does not look appetizing. Too plain.

Agree. And using butter with cucumbers strikes me as a mismatch.

Where do you get your cucumbers? They sound overripe.

I haven't bought any in years. I have only my memories. Apart from crunch, they don't add much to a dish, and it's hard to use up a cucumber while it's fresh if you're just putting a few slices in a salad.

When I grew cucumbers last year we had 2 different varieties. 1 was more watery and not very firm. The other much more firm. Cucumber varieties make a difference. I think Pickle cucumbers are more firm.

That sounds better. For me, "cucumber sandwiches" in stories about the British having high tea (or low tea, whatever) means just cucumber between bread, and I wonder why bother eating them.

British indeed, English in particular. I do like cucumber, but as the only filling in a sandwich; no thanks (most Scots would agree).

In your link above, the thin coating of butter is to keep the bread from getting damp, along with putting the cucumber on just before serving. My thought, they may be using so-called English Cucumbers, which have few seeds so maybe have less moisture.

I've pretty much switched over to using the English cucumbers for everything. They do have fewer seeds and are a bit more flavorful. Not sure about the water content, they seem about the same... unle4ss you let them get old. Then they turn soft and wet. I also use a lot of the pickling cucumbers. When a pickle jar runs out, instead of dumping the brine and spices, I slice up a handful of pickling cucumbers, pop them in the jar and in about a week you have more pickles. You can only do it one time, maybe twice, before the brine gets too diluted.

Soft and wet cucumbers sound very unappealing.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

If we are talking about dodgy-shaped vegetables, you guys might like this one. A Botswana sausage fruit (about 2 foot long) on the tree outside my tent. Someone should probably give Chet his medication first.

It would make so many sandwiches!

Low hanging fruit?

I know, just dangling right down there waiting for someone to tug on it a bit. Maybe a twist or two as well.

Are we to read this in the context of Post 21266 alone, or is Post 21264 the background?

I decided to try something stupid on my sons Nintendo Switch. He either laid on it or stepped on it and tore/damaged the connector circled in red off. The ribbon cable circled in yellow will fit into connector once replaced. This stuff is microscopic. The 9 pins that get soldered/re-attached to the board aren't really visible to the naked eye. In my vain stupidity I'm trying to repair this myself. I successfully removed the damaged connector, circled in red. I cleaned the board and tinned the small board contacts with new solder. Trying to get the new connector to bond successfully to the board is proving difficult. It will cost about $100 if I have to take it to a shop. I'm really hoping I can pull this off as I've successfully repaired other module replaceable items on this less than 1 year old Switch. Wish me luck.
