This challenge is a bit the opposite of Don's...I want to see one focal point surrounded by lots of open space. Simple, easy and should be fun!

This challenge begins when posted and ends at midnight GMT on 28 August 2023. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

The Challenge Rules:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed.
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like, and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer per challenge. List camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data: ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
6. Commenting: No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have lots of FUN!

>> THE WINNER ALWAYS SETS THE THEME FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE, POSTS IT AND JUDGES IT - BE PREPARED

Challenge closed!
Thank you all for your entries, I enjoyed them all. Now comes the hard part...

Eidelweiss Untitled: Nice flora with lovely colors but the negative space is really not there. Your subject nearly dominates the whole frame

OldCrow Untitled: Very cute Don! Great framing to achieve the negative area .One of your woodcrafts I assume.

InPhoto Untitled: Great framing following the rule of thirds and main subject is isolated in the rippling water. My only nit is that there looks to be a boat anchor in the middle left that distracts my eye a bit. Nicely done though!

Happygav Lavander Focal Point: Worthy of an ad campaign for "back to school". I like your framing and even the shadow morphs into the background. Very nicely done!

dibley Hellfire Pass: This is a great landscape shot but my eye wanders all over the frame and not on the bike, which should be the main subject.

TerryPink Negative: Very unique image, but I find it busy and my eye keeps wandering to the lower third with the building and the shadow projected on the windows.

RDWP Memorial: Poignant shot of a memorial flower buried in the snow. It has all the elements of the challenge.

This one was really tough to judge but I kept coming back to RDWP's Memorial with Happygav a very close second, OldCrow gets the HM.

Thanks again to all for playing and bring it on Rob!

Congrats Rob, a worthy winner for sure.

Well done HappyGav.

Thanks for the HM Ed. It is a woodcraft.

Thanks Ed! Appreciate the nod. My photo was taken several years ago (= the 2004 vintage Pro1 camera, the only Powershot with a red-ring / L lens) in a small community graveyard in the western Arctic. Not so many real flowers there.

Congrats to Gavin, too, for the HM. Enjoyed the other shots as well. Mine is in good company.

Back with a link to the next one soon.

Apologies for the late check-in here - a crazy busy day.
