The corn is really, really high! And it's happy corn since it is so high. Um. Yeah. :)

It's enjoying the bright golden haze on the meadow.

Kind of like this? Or is this golden and russet?

I'll go for golden and russet, but who knows what the corn might see on the meadow when it's high?

Ok, I spent almost two days looking at that photo and I don't see a single russet potato anywhere....

Okay kids, what gives? You people have something happening in your lives. Cam's "new" teacher isn't pushing him like his 2nd grade teacher. Cam was working out the highest number for a 32 bit integer yesterday (2,147,483,647).

On the weather front, we are currently below the 70°F mark. Will probably hit 77°F this weekend.

I lost my wedding ring almost 8 months ago, just fell off my finger. I haven't found my backup ring since the move, it's somewhere in this house. Last week I had made one out of Stainless steel, was a bit bulky. This morning I machined a new one, Stainless gets hot if not cooled enough. I burnt the bajeepers out of my index finger on my right hand. Took 6 ice cubes and 2 hours to cool my finger tip back to almost normal usage. I also "flung" the piece I was working on when that happened. Took me a couple hours to find it. I did finally find it and finished machining and polishing it. I'm quite pleased with it.

Keep an eye on Cam as he is going to do great things. I am loving the weather, 70's during the days, 50's at night. This is my time of year, except for the allergies. The temps, the crisp air, the colors and something about jacket/hoodie weather makes me love this time of year. I have one huge tree which will drop its leaves in a month or so. Burning is allowed where I live, but i prefer to mulch them with the mower. I hate the haze of smoke this time of year around here.

I had a doctors appointment this week, the first in months. My labs are spot on. My weight is up, my strength is almost back to normal, and would be if I didn't allow lazy days. My doctor did confirm that what I lost over the last two years, memory-wise, will not come back. She said it may be a blessing. I think it is for me. I'm working with a therapist to regain/rebuild my short term memory issue, and finding lost words, and it's slow but it's working. I am working on making the plans to sell my home. It probably won't happen until Spring, but I have time. The down side is all the bad happened here over the last couple of years and I don't know what happened and now know that I will never know. This makes the house feel like a house of secrets, if that makes sense, and I need to begin again someplace new. I'm excited about finding a new home and being part of a new community which doesn't know my past. This is my first September in two years. Every day is a good day for me now, and I appreciate these days more than I ever have in my life.

Other than that, my cat for some reason has developed this demand to never be further than three feet away from me at all times. To be on me is her preferred choice, but regardless of where I am in the house, she is always right there. Strange cat. Cool cat. And should I need space I simply pull out the vacuum cleaner and she retreats to my office until I put the vacuum away.

That's pretty much my update today...hope I didn't bore you!

Weather report from TX. Summer finally ramping down. Saturday we hit 113.8, Sunday, 99.8, yesterday only 95.6 and today is a cool 76 at the moment. Pool was at 90.1 last night but I suspect will start cooling off rather quickly. Oh, and we got our first rain since May, .01 inches. I actually had to turn on my wipers three times this morning on the way to the park. This weekend was squirrel damage fixin' time. Came up with this contraption. Worked wonderfully. Was not looking forward working on a 10:12 pitch roof. It doesn't seem steep, but one slip and it's really gonna hurt.

That looks mighty steep to me!! I see something black on the edge of your roof at top of ladder but do not have an idea what it is or how it will keep squirrels out of your house.

Those are clamps. I had to glue a backer board on the fascia and smooth things out with Bondo. Ever work with Bondo on a 140 degree roof? You have to mix it right before you apply and literally have 60 to 90 seconds to get it on and smoothed out. On the positive side, in 5 minutes it's sand-able and ready for another coat.

Never would have thought about using Bondo in that capacity. You're a free thinker!

Bondo works great repairing walls, window sills, just about anything. It's extremely stable, totally water proof, works easy, and takes any kind of paint very well. So much easier than replacing the board.

If your going to use it on wood, soak the wood with THIS (external link) first unless the wood is in really good shape. It soaks into damaged wood and turns it into plastic halting further decay. It just paints on but I use a paper towel. Just let the wood soak it up and let it dry. Then Bondo.

I've used bondo on outdoor trim. Zero gaps on wood butted together. Looks fantastic when done. Yes it will crack, but it's hairline, one coat of paint with a bit of elasticity and it's perfect. My neighbor, a home painter was very impressed.

I've heard of JB Weld, just never for wood. Probably most of what I will need it for is going to be wood. I do have some places where I need to replace the wood, but there are many places that would definitely benefit from the Bondo. Like Chet mentioned, where the boards butt together do have some gaps that would look a lot better if they were continuous and clean. Thanks guys!
