Port Angeles. Does 3 trips a day between PA and Victoria BC. This was the 8:20 run.

All the ones you mentioned are run by Washington state. The Port Angeles ferry is private. There is a state ferry in Port Townsend that runs to Whidbey Island.

The Glacier Spirit runs whale watching tours out of PA for a tour company in Port Townsend that has boats leaving from several harbors along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. They all head up to the San Juans.

Thank you. I rode my first state ferry in 1962. :)

Which canal Michael? I know it's not the Canal du Midi.

Tug GPS Racia.
Moving a crane and working platform on the River Thames.
Just below the jib of the crane can be seen one of the old forts housing a gun battery to defend us from the French (and others) in years gone by!
Tilbury Fort is one of the finest surviving examples of 17th-century military engineering in England. Built on the site of a smaller Tudor fort, it was designed to defend the river Thames passage to London against enemy ships. It was garrisoned untill the end of WWI.

Hi Jonzjob, it is the Nantes-Brest canal at Malestroit. Beautiful spot.

Hi Jonzjob, it is the Nantes-Brest canal at Malestroit. Beautiful spot.

Ta for the info. I don't know that part of France. We lived just NE of Carcassonne for 13 years and didn't get away from there very often. There was so much more around there we just didn't have time to explore!

Plus, when you live in the biggest vinyard in the world why go elsewhere 8-)

You probably know, but the ecluse, locks, on the C du Midi have 'bowed' sides and they are all just 30m max boat length.

Edit : - I just had a quick look at googel maps and realised exactly where you were.

We have stayed by the Golfe du Morbihan but didn't get inland very much. After that holiday we swore that we would go alone next time as my 2 children, about 11 and 13, gave us so much agro that we just said ENOUGH!

Hi Jonzjob, we were just visiting my sister and her husband who spend their summers in La Gacilly, about 15 miles away. Very nice area and only my second time to visit.

I agree with you about the worlds biggest vineyard. I might have sampled a glass or two during my stay.

We lived in Berkshire (Wokingham/Finchampstead) for 18 years and enjoyed it there. There is something very nice about exploring a country that you didn't grow up in and to discover new places all the time.

Our grandkids are about the same age as your children so I understand trying to explore with kids in tow. It is always a different holiday with kids.

Best wishes.

If your grandchildren are about the same age as my 2 then you are older than I thought! Daughter - 44, son - 47  and eldest g/son - 22.

Before we get into trouble from the milk monitors ;-)a The Laura, a 30m peniche, barge, that was cut down from 40m so she could fit in the Midi locks. Owned by a very good French friend of ours and is a floating gite. Extremely comfortable when I crewed for Hugues, the owner, for the 3 day trip to the dry dock to get her bottom sorted and scraped . And behind get is the Laura. She's a 17m Dutch barge replicar and was owned by a pair of my oldest friends, English. She too is very comfortable.

They were parked at the ecluse du l'Eveque, near Trebes. A lovely and peaceful spot.
